Story

With the help and support of many of you, we have already built our life together with all of the things we need. So rather than giving you all the headache of trying to work out what traditional wedding gift to get us, we have decided to use our wedding to also fundraise for a charity close to our hearts.

As most of you know, very early on into our relationship we had our son George. He came early at 29 weeks due to me having pre-eclampsia. He was only 3lb and was in hospital for 4 weeks. This put us off having any more; until halfway through covid when I thought it would be a good idea to have another one. I convinced myself this time it would be fine and a no problem pregnancy. Tom's rolled this eye's as he normally does. At 23 weeks into the pregnancy Florence stopped growing, and at 27 weeks she entered this world weighing 925g; less than a bag of sugar. Florence was in hospital for 10 weeks, with significant covid restrictions meaning we couldn't visit her together after day one. Florence is now a healthy and happy 5 year old head strong little lady.

Whittington Babies are a charity at the Whittington Hospital in London where Florence stayed whilst in hospital. They kept me sane during a very stressful time when i was unable to visit Florence in Hospital as Tom had caught Covid and brought it home. Whittington Babies provided a iPad in the NICU, so that we could see Florence and talk to her whilst we isolated at home for 10 days.

They provide physical and emotional support to the parents of babies on the NICU ward. They also provide much needed items, that often parents don't think about when having a premature baby, like breast pumps to help to establish breast feeding and tiny nappies which believe it or not are not provided by the hospital. On special occasions they also help to bring a much needed sense of normality such as at Easter they give every baby a knitted bunny and eater eggs for the parents.

We don't do things by half me and Tom as you are all aware, we would like to raise as much as we can for Whittington Babies, please dig deep so we can make a real difference for the charity.
