My Uncle had a life of adventure; from the Navy, to the Midhurst Police; where he was awarded the Humanitarian Society Award for saving life, to the Marine Police in Chichester Harbour; with his encyclopaedic knowledge of the coast.

His exceptional talent to restore from rust to rally, his Classic Cars, built quite a collection; attending The Annual Goodwood Revival. Most memorable of all was him driving me in his Austin 10 on the day of my Wedding .

His competitive Marathon Running was a large part of his life, inspiring and encouraging all the family, with some wonderful memories of distance training with him !

His home in Alderney was his ‘paradise’ island, where he enjoyed the tranquillity and breath taking seascape views.

A true gentleman in every sense of the word and often mistaken for Prince Michael of Kent which used to amuse him !

Though tragically, a late diagnosis of Prostate Cancer took his life in September 2023 and surrounded by those he loved, he was a true light in his life well lived and desperately missed .x.

Like a father to me, John supported all my pursuits with much enthusiasm and he would have been very proud to have witnessed me winning the K2 Non Stop Race ~ " The Glasgow to Edinburgh Challenge " in October 2023, with my Racing partner, Peter Clarke; known to me as 'Bootie' !

It seemed only right to remember my dear Uncle, with the biggest challenge of all; competing in "The Everest Of Canoe Races" The Devizes To Westminster International Canoe Race.

The Non Stop Race from Devizes To Westminster of 125 miles with 77 portages in under 24 Hours is our aim for 30th & 31st March 2024 ..

May I please take this opportunity of thanking you all in supporting Prostate Cancer UK and acknowledging such a worthy charity in memory of so many lives lost.
