Story
My Dad is one of my absolute favourite people in the world, has supported me fully throughout my life whether it’s taking me to football or imparting random pearls of wisdom in my birthday cards, and alongside my mum has been one of the most influencial people in my life.
And last year we found out he has Alzheimer’s.
Now I say found out, but in a weird way we knew it was coming. There had been signs, from trouble with short term memory to objects getting lost and in some ways getting the diagnosis was a weird kind of relief because we could start to figure out what’s next.
But I can’t lie, it’s been a lot. I’ve been scared, confused, angry and upset, but then at the same time I’m incredibly grateful that my dad is still around and there’s so much of him that’s still the same man.
I guess my reason for sharing this is because I don't want other families to have to go through what we have. And so that's why I've decided to raise money for Alzheimer's Research in the hope that a cure can be found one day soon.
So on 11th July 2026, I'll be running Race to the Stones 100km, not only trying to complete 100km for the very first time but also to hopefully raise money for this very important cause.
A huge thank you for any donations you're able to give, they really are massively appreciated <3
