Story
As many of you know, in 2023 my brother was diagnosed with Leber hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON), an inherited form of vision loss that mostly affects young males. Currently there is no cure but charities like LOOK have supported him as well as my parents as he learns to live with the challenges of being visually impaired. I am not a runner by any means but want to help as much as I can, not just for Louis but for VI children and young people in the UK. Running 26.2 miles may be tough but not as tough as struggling with vision loss.
Please donate to my page, no matter how big or small each donation is very much appreciated and will spur me on during the marathon and my training journey.
Look is a charity that aim to empower visually impaired children and young people to thrive in a world where they are valued, included and equipped for success and also to connect their families with knowledge and support on how to cope.
£6 will pay for a young person to attend one of LOOK's VI
focused employment and opportunity days.
£12 pays for that person to have access to an hour of LOOK's helpline service
£50 pays for an hour of counselling for a recently diagnosed young person or their parent/carer
£100 pays for a workshop teaching sighted children about inclusion and understanding
£400 pays for a whole year of one to one mentoring through
LOOK's Mentorship scheme
