Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

George is the beautiful son of my friends Natalie and Mark and was born via emergency C-section in November 2023 after Natalie had a double rupture of her uterus just days before his planned delivery. When Mark published his memoire of the ordeal they all went through at the time of George’s birth and the hours, days and weeks later, I felt utterly helpless. George had been starved of blood and oxygen and an MRI confirmed he had suffered widespread HIE (severe brain injury). George continues to be fed through an NG tube and will require multidisciplinary support throughout his life.

Understanding George’s needs through the eyes and experiences of his wonderful parents have truly touched my heart; I can’t begin to comprehend the challenges and difficulties Natalie, Mark and George have and continue to encounter daily, but I know that the wonderful care, support and respite provided by Hope House is priceless and continues to be a lifeline for each of them.

With the above in mind, and to raise awareness of the fantastic work Hope House do, I have signed up to climb Kilimanjaro in February 2025. I wanted to do something that placed me completely outside of my comfort zone (I don’t like heights or the cold and can’t imagine the toilet facilities!) but knowing I am climbing for such a worthwhile charity who do so very much to support Natalie, Mark and George will be all the inspiration I need!

Hope House ensure that children with life-threatening conditions enjoy the best quality of life, together with their families. They provide specialist care and support, when and where needed, and work to ensure that no one faces the challenges of caring for a seriously ill child on their own.

Any donations will go directly to Hope House through this page, and I would be so very grateful for anything you can donate.

Many thanks.
