Jump with Robbie for his 7th birthday!

Catherine Brown is raising money for Down Syndrome Cheshire

21 frog jumps! · 21 October 2026

Our charity was founded in 2007 by a group of parents, who realised how important it is to connect with other people in order to share experiences. Our aim is to provide opportunities for parents, carers, siblings and extended family networks to have fun in a fully inclusive environment, where a child with Down’s syndrome is one of many, rather than one of a few.

Story

Robbie would like you to join him in a jumping challenge to celebrate his 7th birthday!!

Last year, Robbie's star jumping campaign raised an unbelievable £1,122 for Down Syndrome Cheshire, so he's back at it again this year.

This year, we're upping the antics from star jumps... to frog jumps! Robbie's current favourite jump.

**The challenge is to do 21 frog jumps and donate £2**

We'd love to see your videos of doing frog jumps. Robbie and his classmates will be doing the challenge in PE on the 21st October - Robbie's 7th birthday.

Why 21? People with Down Syndrome have an additional copy of chromosome 21. October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month and Robbie's birthday is on the 21st which seems a crazy coincidence.

Why Down Syndrome Cheshire? We are so very lucky to have this charity on our doorstep. Any challenge that comes our way, DSC are there to support and guide us. Here are a few examples of our personal experience with this charity:

1. Robbie attends DSC holiday clubs where he socialises with other kids with DS, does fun activities like circus skills and meeting little animals, and builds his independence in a safe environment. These clubs are also a lifeline for us as a family with two working parents where regular clubs aren't suitable for Robbie.

2. Any parent who has dealt with the EHCP process knows how frustrating and convoluted it can be. As new parents, we were completely in the dark about Robbie’s entitlements. We knew he was capable of learning and making his own way in the world, but it depends entirely on the interventions he receives now. Sadly, despite there being extensive research on how children with DS learn and the best ways to help them achieve academic and life success, this is far from being widely known in mainstream education.

DSC helped us jump through the many hoops to get his EHCP to a point that enables his school to access the funds they need to provide him with the support and resources he needs, and give Robbie the best possible shot at achieving his potential.

3. Each academic year, a member of the education team at DSC visits Robbie in school. They assess all aspects of his school experience and give advice and training to the staff working with Robbie. This ensures that Robbie gets the best possible experience and his teachers understand how he learns best. Robbie loves school and has come on so much each year so we are so grateful for this partnership.

In summary, DSC provide a truly priceless support system to Robbie and many other children with DS. So please, get frog jumping and give a small donation so that we can give back to this wonderful charity!
