Light Night @ The Junction · 12 October 2023

Since 1998 we have been renovating derelict properties in Leeds and turning them into high quality homes to house people who are homeless or in desperate housing need, whom we support to overcome their challenges - whatever those may be - and to move on to live independently once more.

Story

Latch stands for Leeds Action to Create Homes. We’re a unique charitable organisation that refurbishes derelict and run-down houses in Leeds.

When they’re fully modernised and furnished, our properties provide supported housing for people who are homeless or in housing need. Our support workers and a personal coach work with the tenants to make positive changes in their lives.

80% of our tenants are female and we take a significant portion of referrals from Leeds Women’s Aid and domestic violence shelters locally. All our tenants are classed as homeless and are in Band A – the highest priority of housing need, which can be living in a B&B with their children in one room, living in their cars, sofa surfing or in a shelter or refuge.

We're fundraising to take the children in our homes to the pantomime at Carriageworks this Christmas.
