Story
We recently, very sadly, lost our beautiful Mum and Nana – June, at the grand age of 91.
Mum was such an inspirational lady who had experienced so much throughout her 91 years. She was the most independent, strong, caring, loving and giving person – a great Mum and Nana and was very much loved by her whole family and anyone who knew her. She was also an amazing and loving wife to our lovely dad, and grandad, Bill, who she sadly lost 14 years ago. Not a day went by when she didn’t miss him and chat to him still.
Following a heart attack just over two years ago, and subsequent ill health and advanced heart failure, Mum had to make the transition into a care home – this was a truly difficult time for Mum and the family, as she had always been so independent and strong, but we rested more easy knowing she was being so well cared for and looked after. During this difficult time, when looking for care homes for Mum, Age UK were invaluable, providing help and support to make sure we got Mum the best possible care that she so deserved.
I think Mum would be really happy to know that we chose this very worthy charity, in particular the Stockport Age UK – as Mum had lived in Stockport for 50 plus years, which is also where my brother and I grew up.
Mum has left a void that will never be filled, but she stays with us all in our hearts and our memories. She can rest easy now that she is reunited with her Bill, just where she would want to be.
