Story
This is a Lads’ Advice fundraiser in memory of Corporal Steve Hughes (Royal Welsh), raising vital funds for James’ Place. Steve was just 25 — a son, a brother, a soldier, and one of the founding voices of Lads’ Advice. He saw the best in everyone he met and was compassionate to a fault.
We’ve been overwhelmed by messages asking how to support in Steve’s memory.
With his families blessing, our members have voted and decided that our fundraising should benefit James’ Place — a charity providing life-saving support for men in suicidal crisis.
This will be a year-long fundraiser led by Lads’ Advice with multiple events taking place. The finale will be a major challenge event, which Khan (Steve’s brother) and Gav (co-founder of Lads’ Advice) will take part in together, to honour Steve.
But you don’t have to wait until then. Every donation now helps James’ Place continue their vital work and ensures Steve’s legacy makes a difference straight away.
💂Thank you for standing with us. 🫡
🇬🇧 “Just be fucking kind.”
🏴 “Jest byddwch yn ffwcin garedig.”
At James' Place, our mission is to stop men dying by suicide. In the UK, suicide is the leading cause of death for men under 35 and men consistently account for around three-quarters of suicides.
We believe that no man should face a suicidal crisis alone. James' Place provides free, life-saving therapy to suicidal men at our centres in Liverpool, London and Newcastle. Since opening in 2018, we have helped more than 3,600 men through their crisis.
Your donation could help save a man's life.
