FHL 3 Counties Canoe Challenge · 18 September 2024

Federated Hermes are fundraising for their chosen charity partner, Alzheimer's Research UK, to help find a cure for the diseases which cause dementia!

Story

With a group of hardy colleagues from Federated Hermes I am taking part in a 3 day canoe challenge down the Thames, starting in Abingdon and finishing in Henley, crossing 3 county boundary lines, and covering approximately 40 miles. We'll be camping on the river bank and foraging for food (well, that last bit might be just me...).

I am doing this to help raise funds for Alzheimer's Research UK. As we live longer and the population ages, the risk of dementia grows. It is a truly debilitating condition that affects the individual and their family profoundly and in many different ways, and most of us will be affected either directly or indirectly during our lifetimes. Research is our only chance of changing the ending for people affected.

Alzheimer's Research UK is the UK's leading dementia research charity supporting efforts to understand the causes and to find a cure. More people are being identified earlier than ever and to give them a chance of slowing the progress of the disease or even stopping/reversing its effects. Your donation will be used to support scientists and researchers find new ways to diagnose, develop new treatments and find a cure for dementia.
