I am supporting the charity MAN&BOY by taking part in ‘Ride into Battle’, a cycle challenge, aiming for Ashburnham Place in Battle, the home of MAN&BOY’s camps for 12 years. In the wake of recent national coverage of the need for positive male role models for boys - Sir Gareth Southgate's talk, the ground-breaking TV drama 'Adolescence' and the Centre for Social Justice’s ‘Lost Boys’ report - the need to fight for interventions such as those offered by MAN&BOY is more urgent than ever.

MAN&BOY believe when positive role models are actively present, children, families, and communities thrive. They work alongside families, schools, and other referral organisations to support boys aged between 8 and 12 by providing opportunities for men and boys to have fun and take part in adventurous activities. Whether it's through camps, courses, or community events, they strive to create environments where trust and confidence can flourish.

Most participants will be finishing their ride on 7th June at Ashburnham Place where they will see first-hand the MAN&BOY set up and the activities that the families can take part in. Unfortunately, I can't make that date, so on the 2nd June, I will be doing a solo bike ride of 20 miles (much further than my normal rides - to the shops and back) in solidarity with the rest of the team.
