Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Before reading on - on Sunday 8th Dec - I completed this challenge in 1 hour and 9 minutes - with a lot of support to get me through! Thank you to everyone that supported and donated. This page will remain open for a bit longer to receive any more donations.

I am raising money for Let us Play, who are a local charity near to where my family live in the South Staffordshire area of UK. This charity host a range of activities, and events either at their HQ, or at pre-agreed times outside of busy times for families with children who have autism/ADHD, complex learning difficulties, alike. Both my wife and I are parents to two sons who have autism, one has ADHD, and both have complex learning difficulties! Let us play have significantly helped my family (alongside the 120+ families they support) as outlined above.

The charity recently have over the past few years, put aside funds (mainly through small scale fund raising initiatives, involving a lot of time/effort) to add a side building to their HQ to add more room to host further activities to further help families they support, AND a sensory room (a safe space for children to regulate after becoming overwhelmed). Enough funds had been raised at the start of 2024 to start the build, A local firm instructed to go ahead and complete the job (after sound due diligence) have for want of a better word, left the charity in the lurch and finished a third of the job!!, the charity need to finish the building, but no funds to do so.

My aim is simply to complete the charity challenge I've set myself and build further awareness of autism and neuro-diversity at the time time, and raise enough funds for the building to be made watertight for the winter! This is only the start. I am in the picture below with the two ladies that founded and run the charity, Kim and Claire, both of whom do an amazing job, and both have BME's (the Queens award for voluntary services).
