Justin Marsh, Dadd's Family Butchers, fundraiser for Pilgrims Hospices

Sophie Mallett is raising money for Pilgrims Hospices In East Kent
In memory of Justin Marsh
Pilgrims Hospices is a charity providing palliative care, free of charge, to people in east Kent. For people with a range of life-limiting illnesses, specialist services are provided from our three hospices in Canterbury, Ashford and Thanet, in patients' homes and via community programmes.

Story

Justin Marsh, the tall, smiley man behind Dadd's Family Butchers in Westgate-on-Sea, sadly passed away at the Pilgrims Hospice in Margate this July, after a short but incredibly brave fight with cancer.

The Pilgrims Hospice made the four weeks he spent there as comfortable as possible — whether that meant letting me bring him a doner kebab or allowing his dog Buddy to stay for sleepovers.

As his youngest daughter, I can say that Justin was incredibly generous and kind to anyone who knew him. He supported myself and my siblings beyond measure, and I’m so unbelievably grateful that Justin and my mum found each other.

Beyond us, he was devoted to his community. He always went the extra mile to keep the Butchers running smoothly, working long hours and taking only one holiday in six years — his honeymoon with my mum — all to ensure customers had a value‑for‑money, high‑quality local butchers. If any of this resonates with you and in remembrance of Justin, please help us return some of his generosity to the Pilgrims Hospice by making a small donation.

He will be sadly missed by his family: his wife Diane, who he tied the knot with after 15 years this January 2026; the three children he inherited through her; his brother Lee; niece Daisy; his mum, Ann and wider family.
