Open Water Swim Marathon Challenge

Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity. We’re striving for a cure, by revolutionising the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia.

Story

Every 3 minutes dementia steals a happily ever after. Research is our only chance of changing the ending for people affected by dementia.

Alzheimer's Research is the UK's leading dementia research charity. They exist for a cure.

My lovely dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, which is a dreadful disease, not only for those suffering but for friends and family caring too. Watching your loved one change into a different person, vulnerable and confused is heartbreaking. Your donation will help scientists and researchers find new ways to diagnose dementia, develop new treatments and find a cure for dementia.

Dad taught me to swim and I can think of no better way to pay tribute to him, he'd be so proud of what I'm attempting to do. Thoughts of him will get me through the early morning training sessions, cold water, jelly fish and thoughts of why on earth have I done this! Especially without a wetsuit.
