Support Team BBS who are running the TCS London Marathon 2026 to raise vital funds to change the lives of people with visual impairments through the power of sport!

Story

I am running the London Marathon in 2026 for British Blind Sport. My son, Leo, who is 9 has a visual impairment and loves football. He has been instrumental in the creation of the Longfleet Vision Warriors, a football team for children of all ages and levels of sight in Dorset. Football has had a huge impact on Leo and being the Team Ambassador for the Vision Warriors has built his confidence across all aspects of life. British Blind Sport provided training for our coaches to help them understand how to coach players who are blind or partially sighted which has equipped them to offer the most amazing football environment for our players. It has also built a wider community for the families with true friendships being formed between players and parents. That is the power of sport!

As a huge sport fan myself and working as a Football Development Manager I witness the positive impact of being active and part of a team has across all ages, abilities, cultures and communities. I would like to raise funds to support British Blind Sport to increase their offer and reach more young people like Leo and his Vision Warrior friends and what a way to do it than to be part of an amazing mass participation event!

Any support you can give towards this amazing cause to open up the world of sport to more people with visual impairments across the country would be greatly appreciated!

Some further information from the charity itself:

British Blind Sport's mission is to make sport and physical activity accessible for all blind and partially sighted people in the UK.

Sport can transform lives. Being physically active empowers people and has so many benefits. Regular physical activity is not only about good physical health, it also boosts confidence, increases resilience and builds friendships which all add up to better health and wellbeing.

In the UK, just 12% of people with sight loss regularly take part in sport and physical activity. A further 64% of people with sight loss want to take part but experience barriers that stop them.

BBS is a small and ambitious charity and when you donate, you will make a difference by helping BBS to provide more services that will help more people with sight loss than ever before.
