Story
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and a big thank you for supporting me in the alzheimer’s bristol memory walk.
One Step at a Time: Walking with Purpose, Living with Strength
Some people run marathons. Others jump out of planes. And some lace up their shoes and walk — not just for the steps, but for a cause, for a memory, for hope. For me, it’s all three.
I’ve run the New York Marathon once. I’ve crossed the finish line of the London Marathon not once, but four times. I’ve felt the sky rush past me in a skydive, all for charity — because making a difference has always mattered to me. But now, the cause is even closer to home.
I’m currently living with Alzheimer’s.
I have a amazing support network of family and friends as well as being supported daily by the amazing team at Manor cottage
I was diagnosed with alzheimer’s disease in 2022
It’s a diagnosis that changes things — how you see the world, how you move through it, and how the world sees you. It is an emotional rollercoaster for family and friends and loved ones.
living with alzheimer’s has given me even more reason to keep moving, keep pushing, and keep giving back.
Right now, I’m doing a sponsored walk for Alzheimer’s, not just for myself, but for every family, every friend, and every forgotten name. Every step I take is a tribute — to the memories we hold onto, and the ones we fight to keep.
Myjourney with giving didn’t start here. I’ve also given back to the community by helping with the soup run , dedicated to supporting the homeless community — offering not just clothes and food, but dignity, hope, and a sense of belonging. I’ve seen firsthand how a kind gesture, a shared step, or even a conversation can change someone’s day — or their life.
Through it all, I’ve learned something powerful: we don’t have to be defined by our diagnosis, our past, or our pain. We can be defined by our actions, our courage, and the way we show up for others.
So I keep walking.
Because while I may be living with Alzheimer’s, I’m also living with purpose. And I hope my steps — whether across a marathon finish line or down a quiet street during a charity walk — can inspire others to keep moving forward too.
One step at a time. Always forward. Always with love.
At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.
We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future.
