Story
Over the last couple of years, I have been reconnecting with something I didn’t realise I was missing so much: time in nature.
When I was growing up, nature wasn’t a destination or a wellbeing activity. It was simply part of everyday life. Somewhere along the way, life became busier, more digital and more disconnected.
Spending more time outdoors volunteering or just being on a walk has reminded me that green spaces do more than support the environment. They bring people together. They create opportunities to slow down, do something tangible, meet others and feel connected to the places where we live.
That’s why I want to raise money to support a charity with purpose that is very close to my heart. Groundwork connects people with their surroundings by creating and supporting Green Community Hubs. These spaces create opportunities for local people to come together, grow things, learn new skills, volunteer and build meaningful social connections - something that feels increasingly important for our wellbeing as well as our environment.
To support this, I am setting myself a challenge: to run 150K over the next three months!
I’ll be sharing the journey along the way - the good runs, the difficult runs and pockets of nature I see throughout my runs!
If you’re able to support, thank you. And if not, I hope this inspires you to spend a little more time outside and reconnect with something that makes you feel grounded.
