Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you know, I took some time off after leaving Bain to pursue a lifelong ambition to coach and promote women’s cricket with Cricket Without Boundaries (CWB). This weekend, I will embark on this adventure with five CWB leaders and volunteers. (https://cwbblogs.com/nepal2023/2023/09/13/meet-the-team/). This is the first time CWB are undertaking a volunteer project in Nepal and I am delighted to be part of the team.
We will be travelling to Biratnagar, Kathmandu, Rajbiraj and Lahan, partnering with the Nepal Cricket Foundation (https://nepalcricketfoundation.org/), Sabal Nepal (https://sabalnepal.com/) and the Saptari Cricket Association (https://saptaricricket.com/) as well as Cricket Changemakers (https://www.cricketchangemakers.com/). Our work in Nepal will enable disadvantaged young people start their cricketing journey while also using the sport as a platform for positive social change.
This will begin with coaching and mentoring in schools and cricket clubs, supporting discussions about how we can work together to help girls to play sport and supporting equal opportunities for boys and girls. We will also be aiming to support the launch of community cricket in selected regions that will help to create a connected network of cricketing hubs. This will facilitate easy opportunities for inter-hub matches and competitions to promote gender equality through cricket with three key aims and activities:
1) Building girls’ confidence through cricket.
2) Engaging boys in discussions about restrictions girls face because of their gender.
3) Increasing the visibility of girls’ cricket through competitions and matches.
In order to help ensure we have the biggest impact possible, I would be very grateful if you are able to donate a few pounds to raise £1,500 for schools in Nepal to develop grassroots cricket for girls.
Volunteer fundraising is the main source of funds for CWB so it can continue with future projects in Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya and Nepal.
Many thanks,
Kajal
