Story
My name is Kandeel, and I am an Oncology Research Nurse at Salford Royal Hospital, working closely with the Geoffrey Jefferson Brain Research Centre. I support clinical trials for patients with brain tumours, including glioblastoma - one of the most aggressive and devastating forms of cancer. Every day, I see first-hand the urgent need for better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
Last year, I faced a personal health challenge that changed my perspective and reminded me that if you have your health, you have everything. That realisation gave me the courage to push myself and take on a meaningful challenge.
On 26th May (the hottest day of the year) I climbed Snowdon. It was physically exhausting, mentally demanding & at times terrifying due to my fear of heights, but every step was for my patients.
To all my patients: you are truly incredible! The strength and courage you show every day inspire me more than you will ever know. I am so proud of every battle and challenge you have faced and continue to face with such courage. One day we WILL find a cure. Until then, we will keep researching, keep pushing forward, and keep fighting alongside each and every one of you! 💙
I am grateful to everyone who has donated, shared, and supported me throughout this challenge. My fundraising page will remain open for a few more weeks, so if you would still like to donate and support vital brain tumour research, every contribution is greatly appreciated.
