Virtual walk to Kandersteg · 31 March 2025

Running since 1951, we have a fantastic well-maintained Scout Hut and grounds, with enthusiastic highly qualified leaders, and offer a full range of Scouting activities for the children and young people who join our groups. We know that children need varied fun and activities to help them develop into well rounded young people, and our Scouting Group helps them to make new friends and learn respect for one another via a wide range of activities. The Motto throughout the group is ‘Be Prepared’. This starts at age 6 to 8 in the Beaver Colonies with games, crafts, visits, and good turns, along with plenty of outdoor activities. When a child joins the Cub Scouts aged 8 to 10½ we hold exciting activities including climbing, kayaking, camping and sleepovers, outdoor activities, involvement in our local communities as well as the more traditional scouting activities such as map reading, fire lighting and pioneering! When they are older aged 10½ to 15 and join the Scout Troop, our programmes offer a huge variety of fun and exciting activities including camping, hikes, pioneering, team games, raft racing, climbing, kayaking and so much more! Whilst our Beavers have fun and games, our older Scouts and Cub scouts learn the Scout Law and the Cub Scout Law encouraging their respect and kindness, although they all learn to do their best to earn the badges and awards for their uniform.

Story

In July 2025, We are taking a group of children from the 12th Berkswich scouts to Kandersteg international scout camp in Switzerland.

We hope this will be an amazing opportunity for all the scouts involved and provide life long memories for those taking part.

The leaders have challenged the scouts to raise some of the funding for the trip themselves and have challenged the children to a virtual walk from the scout hut, in Green Gore lane, Stafford to the camp site in Kandersteg.

This is a massive 706 miles, that will need to be completed early next year, so the scouts would really appreciate your support and encouragement,
