Story

2024 exceeded all expectations but I'm not ready to hang up my shoes yet. I have unfinished business with London so I will be taking to the streets again on Sunday 27th April to do all 26.2 miles again. The training has begun and I'm excited to see how it goes this time now I have a bit of marathon running experience under my belt 😀

The important work of Alzheimer's Research UK continues and I'm honoured to be part of this awesome team again this year. Together we are making such an impact and we have to keep the hope alive that one day we will be free from this awful disease and the devastation it causes.

On 31st July 2023 my Mum, at the age of 61, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Nothing can prepare you for the moment you find out that someone you love so very very much has a disease. A disease without a cure.

Deep down we’d known for a while that something was happening. That mum wasn’t herself. That life wasn’t as easy for her as it had been, that she was scared and confused. We dipped in and out of facing it, seeking advice, talking about it, doing some research but ultimately it has taken us a couple of years to get to this point.

Alzheimer’s Research UK is dedicated to finding a cure and I am joining their team to support this cause. 1 in 2 of each and every one of us will be affected by this disease throughout our lives, either as a sufferer or as a carer and we need to change that.

This year, 2024, I also turn 40 which is motivating me even more to lace up my trainers and dedicate the whole of this milestone year to raising money for Alzheimer’s Research.

Please join me in supporting this vital effort to help us buy back some precious time with the people we love.

For anyone that knows me or my family personally, and for whom this news might be new I would be very grateful for your discretion and understanding as we navigate the next steps of this journey. If you’d like to send any personal messages to Mum or Dad, please could you do so via me or my sisters in the first instance. Thank you ❤️
