Story

In Memory of Our Dad — Supporting Brain Health Research

In 2016, Our world changed forever. Our dad, full of life, wisdom, and unwavering love, passed away suddenly after suffering a brain haemorrhage. It was a deeply traumatic and disorienting time. The ordeal began in India, far from home. From that moment on, our family was thrown into a whirlwind of fear, hope, grief, and impossibly hard decisions.

Getting him safely transported back to the UK was one of the most difficult experiences of my life. But through it all, we began to learn, not only about the complexities of international medical care, but also about the extraordinary power and fragility of the human brain.

What struck us most was how little we truly knew about the brain, the organ that shapes our thoughts, holds our memories, controls our movements, and defines who we are. Watching our dad’s condition unfold made it painfully clear how vital brain health is, and how urgently we need more research, awareness, and medical advancement in this field.

In 2026, it will be ten years since we lost him. A decade without his voice, his guidance, his presence, but also ten years of growth, reflection, and a deep desire to honour his memory in a meaningful way.

Karan and Mia will be running the London Marathon in 2026, to honour ten years since his passing and to raise vital funds in his memory.

By supporting brain health research, neuroscience, and medical innovation, we hope to celebrate my dad's life in a way that reaches beyond our family, to help prevent other families from experiencing the same pain, and to support a future where more lives are saved through knowledge, compassion, and progress.

This is for our dad, to honour his strength, his memory, and the lessons he unknowingly left behind.

It is for every patient, every loved one, every doctor, and every future scientist working toward a better understanding of the incredible, intricate, and still-mysterious human brain.

We would be deeply grateful for your support and any donation you can make.
