Kara's fundraiser for Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
Hi! I'm Kara!
I'm a Deputy Sister at the Cardiac Catheter Labs (Cardiology), at the Royal Cornwall Hospital (RCH).
I'm a Cornish nurse having studied and commenced my nursing career here at RCH back in 2008. I've worked in Cardiology since 2011 and I absolutely love my job. It's so very rewarding! Here, we put in pacemakers and stents, both planned procedures and emergency.
I'm part of the Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention team, meaning if someone has a heart attack, they'll likely be rushed to us to unblock the artery, day or night!
This is an amazing, life saving service.
I'd like to raise £2000 for the Cornish Heart Unit Fund (CHUF) which is part of the Royal Cornwall Hospital Charities, to support Cardiology and it's valuable work. The CHUF fund is the way in which donations made to the Cardiology service at Royal Cornwall are received and appropriated to projects and programmes that set out to improve, patient care and experience, and the development of staff within cardiology.
The London Marathon is something I have always wanted to do. It's going to be a challenge as it's a lot further than I usually run! What a charity to be doing it for too! We have all used the hospitals services at some point in our lives! It's so important to us all.
More about the Hospital- Our Vision- We are passionate about supporting the creation of a brilliant patient experience for everyone across the Trust at Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, St Michaels Hospital in Hayle and West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance.
Thanks to kind and generous supporters like you, we are able to fund equipment, facilities or additional training with our patients at the heart of everything that we do.
Thanks for reading and donating, I really do appreciate it!
