As Uckfield Mayor 2023-2024 I have been very privileged to be invited to meet so many wonderful , volunteers, charities and businesses who make the community of Uckfield such a wonderful place to live.

Raystede is a charity that aims to give animals a better life through rehoming, rehabilitation and sanctuary, and give people the support and knowledge they need to treat animals with care and respect.

Raystede is Sussex’s biggest animal welfare charity, with nearly 70 years’ experience of caring for and rehoming animals. Uniquely, we care for a huge range of animals - from dogs, cats and donkeys to rabbits, parrots and alpacas.

As someone who has had many rescue dogs and cats and who appreciates the very special bond we have with our pets, I am so grateful to animal sanctuaries like Raystede who support and rehome those that for many different reasons find themselves abandoned through no fault of their own.

I can’t cope with the teacups at the fair, would never go on a roller coaster and fear going too fast on my bike. So what better way to raise some money for such a worthwhile charity - Wing Walk on a biplane at 130MPH.
