24hr Badmintonathon · 27 June 2026

Tackle is the only patient-led, UK-wide charity representing people with prostate cancer and those who care for them. We are a small but mighty organisation, supporting over 100 peer support groups for men living with and beyond prostate cancer.

Story

On Saturday, 27th June at 8am, members of Riverside Badminton Club will start playing badminton for 24hrs. The aim is to keep the shuttle live until Sunday, 28th June 8am. There will be players of all ages supporting this event and popping in at different times to play.

This event will take place at Morpeth Leisure Centre with Places Leisure donating the court time free of charge for us to complete this challenge.

On the Saturday from 10am we will have a cake stall, tombola and chocolate raffle with all donations going direct to this charity.

This is an annual event for Riverside Badminton Club and we choose a different local charity each year.

This year, I have chosen Tackle Prostate Cancer to support. Please take the time to read below what this fantastic charity achieves.

Thank you

Karen

Tackle Prostate Cancer fundraises to help support groups across the UK who are run by people who have been impacted by prostate cancer. These support groups provide a safe space that help others through their prostate cancer journey.

Talking to someone with lived experience has been found to create a positive move towards improvement in mental health recovery, the support groups provide the psychological support that the UK's healthcare system can't provide.

Your fundraising efforts will directly impact existing support groups or help start a support group in an area of need.
