At Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, it is our mission to ensure everyone diagnosed with lung cancer can live well with the disease for as long as possible.

For the past three decades, Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation has been the driving force behind lung cancer research, investing millions of pounds into the early detection of the disease. We have done this, and will continue to do this, because we know if lung cancer is caught early, curative treatment is possible.

I am undertaking this challenge in honour of my wonderful and amazing husband Michael Gallagher, also fondly known as Mick by his las family and friends. I am hoping to raise as much money as possible, in order for vital research to be undertaken to give people more precious time with their loved ones. Time is very precious and we often make the mistake of thinking we have loads of time. However, tomorrow is never guaranteed.

Michael was a gentle giant with a wicked sense of humour and he was the life and soul of the party , even if there was no party. Michael lit up a room with his smile , infectious laugh and awesome sense of humour, not forgetting his dad jokes, lol. He was a true gentleman and would always go above and beyond to help anyone out both professionally and personally.

Michael was a much loved and respected paramedic for the London Ambulance service and was very proud to be a paramedic and wore his uniform with immense pride and enjoyed serving the community. Michael was well loved by his friends and family and was an awesome dad. He was so proud of his children and always boasted about them.

Michael was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer at the end of June 2024 and bravely endured various intensive treatments. Despite his gruelling treatments he never lost his wicked sense of humour and was still concerned with other people’s welfare above his own. Michael very sadly died at the end of September shortly after we got married. I am so blessed to have known and be loved by such an amazing man. He will be forever etched on my heart.
