Maddy's Mark: Turning Tragedy into Triumph
From Maddy’s parents:
In 2022, we faced the unimaginable loss of our beloved daughter, Maddy, to sepsis, she was just 20 years old. Maddy was full of life, she was fun and funny, kind, brave, completely honest and real. She was a very special person, not only to us her family, but also to her friends, and actually to everyone she met. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her and would have helped many, many people had she lived.
Instead of looking inward, we chose to honour her legacy by creating Maddy's Mark, a charity dedicated to promoting mental and physical health for girls and young women through rugby.
Why Rugby? Rugby was Maddy's passion. It gave her a sense of belonging, diverse friendships, and a place where she could be herself. Rugby is unique in that it welcomes all body types and characters, providing a supportive environment free from stereotypes.
Our Impact In just over two years, Maddy's Mark has introduced rugby to 3,000 girls and young women through partnerships with community teams like Exeter Chiefs, Bristol Bears, and Harlequins. We've seen firsthand the positive impact this has on their lives.
Our Mission We aim to reach even more girls, offering them these new opportunities. By promoting rugby, we hope to improve their physical and mental well-being at a time when it's needed most, in this most socially fractured of times.
