Story
On April 20, 2026, I will be running the Boston Marathon for the third time. As a life long runner, it is a race that is special to me and so many runners. It was a former patient, a runner and Boston Marathoner, who encouraged me at every one of her visits to strive to qualify for the race, which I first ran in 2017, shortly after my patient had died from ovarian cancer.
This year, I want both my training miles and race miles to mean more. I’m dedicating my run to support the Gyn Onc Teal Fund at Magee-Womens Research Institute & Foundation. This fund advances research and care for women facing gynecologic cancers. When our patients are diagnosed, there are often unmet needs which are not covered by insurance and The Gyn Onc Teal Fund at Magee-Womens Hospital helps to support our patients.
I have already time qualified for the race. As I have already planned to run/travel and will cover these costs, this means that every dollar I raise will directly support the patients and families I help care for at Magee Womens Hospital.
