Story
I am running the Manchester half marathon in aid of the charity Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT).
In April 23 my best friends baby was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma (eye cancer) at only 16 months old. He has had to go through chemotherapy and radiotherapy on a monthly basis by being put under general anaesthetic.
He will have to be monitored until the age of 7 years old each time being put under general anaesthetic. He is a warrior and I can only imagine what him and his parents are going through. So running this half marathon pales into insignificance against what Finley is fighting.
The charity receives no government funding and any donations to this amazing charity will go a long way in helping to provide lifelong support to children and their families affected by eye cancer, raise awareness of this little known and devastating condition and fund research into prevention and treatment.
