My JustGiving Story: Supporting the Dawn Patrol Riders for My Name Is Doddie
Hi, I’m Karen — a farmer, a passionate rugby fan, and proud to be part of the support crew for the Dawn Patrol Riders for My Name Is Doddie Foundation.
I’m especially proud to be supporting my sister, Pauline Elizabeth, who is riding this challenge. I follow Pauline on Instagram and I’m always in awe of the Edinburgh Dawn Patrol ride-outs — rolling out from St Andrew’s Square at 5:40am takes real grit, and it shows the spirit of this community.
In March 2026, our team is taking on the Doddie Aid Triple Crown Challenge — 800 miles across four nations in just four days — to raise vital funds and awareness for Motor Neurone Disease (MND), in honour of Scottish rugby legend Doddie Weir. His courage and legacy are the reason so many of us are committed to this mission.
While the riders do the miles, my role is to keep the wheels turning behind the scenes. I’ll be driving and navigating, helping the team with timings, meet points, and stop logistics, and making sure riders are well-fed, well-hydrated, and properly supported all the way to Dublin. Support vehicles are critical on a challenge like this — they can be the difference between a good day and a very hard one.
The Route:
• Day 1: Melrose → Leeds
• Day 2: Leeds → Gloucester
• Day 3: Gloucester → Fishguard (overnight ferry to Ireland)
• Day 4: Rosslare → Dublin
We’ll arrive in Dublin just in time for Scotland’s match against Ireland — tired, but proud, and united by our purpose.
Thank you so much for supporting my fundraising and supporting the Dawn Patrol Riders. Every donation helps us back Doddie’s legacy and fund the work of the My Name Is Doddie Foundation.
