Climbing Kilimanjaro – for Hospice Uk

Karen Ullah is raising money for Hospice UK

Climbing Kilimanjaro · 1 September 2025

Hospice care eases the physical and emotional pain of death and dying. Letting people focus on living, right until the end. But too many people miss out on this essential care. Hospice UK fights for hospice care for all who need it, for now and forever.

Story

For those who don’t know (as I’ve been banging on about it for 12 months) Chris and I will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro –

It’s one of the toughest physical and mental challenges we've ever taken on. The altitude alone can make even the simplest steps exhausting, and the climb takes you through every kind of weather—from baking heat to freezing summit conditions.

To help keep me motivated in the sweaty rainforest and freezing summit nights I wanted to raise some money for a great cause close to my heart. Hospice UK provide funding that has supported my family and millions of others through some of their hardest times, but through the work Daisy communications do with Pendleside Hospice I have seen first hand that they provide so many services as well as end of life care. please watch the video below to see the great work they do.

💷 Why This Year Matters Even More

Most hospice care in the UK is not NHS-funded—the majority of it relies on donations from people like you and me. And right now, it’s harder than ever for them to keep going.

If you’re in a position to help, I’d be truly grateful:

• If you’re local to Pendle, you can donate to Pendleside Hospice: https://www.justgiving.com/page/daisycorporatechallenge25?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL

• If you’re outside the area, please use this page to donate to support the work of Hospice UK. https://www.hospiceuk.org/

Even small donations make a big difference:

• £10 could fund essential pain relief

• £25 could offer a counselling session

• £50 could fund overnight nursing care

And if you’d like to see the impact your donation makes, please take a moment to watch this powerful video from Hospice UK:

🧗‍♀️ Every Step for Something Bigger

Climbing Kilimanjaro will be hard—freezing summit temperatures, exhaustion, and altitude challenges await. But those are nothing compared to the pain and fear families feel when a loved one is nearing the end.

I’ll carry those stories with me on the mountain, and I hope you’ll walk alongside me—by helping the people who are there for others when it matters most.

Thank you so much for reading, and if you’re able to support, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Karen
