Karen Freer is raising money for Bury Hospice

Team: Karen and John fundraising for Bury Hospice

Bury Hospice does 'Strictly come Dancing' as our contestants gear up for the dance challenge of their life. Each will spend 12 weeks learning new dances to be performed in front of a live audience.

Story

We are very excited to be taking part in the Bury Hospice Strictly Dancing event in April 2026, as part of this we would like to raise in excess of £1000 to support the hospice. It is an amazing place ran by caring, compassionate people.

From Karen:

"It will be 20 years in June 2026 that my mum Eileen died of cancer in hospital. I wish that she could have spent her final days in a comfortable, supportive space that the hospice offers with her loved ones around her. We want to raise money in memory of my lovely mum, Eileen and give others an opportunity to spend time at the hospice when they need it most.

My mum loved to dance and as a teen competed in ballroom dancing, she would have been overjoyed to see us taking part in this event".

Did you know it costs £4.8 million pounds to run Bury Hospice, and as a charity they only receive 17% of this figure from the NHS requiring them to raise the remainder themselves. Every donation makes a difference.
