Story
Those of you who know me, know that I CAN'T run, I DON'T run, and I have no desire to EVER run....hence why I decided that a 5k would be the best way to raise money - a certain person once said that they would only sponsor me for something that would be a real personal challenge - and I can assure you this is! On my 'Couch to 5k' journey (and only three weeks in) I damaged ligaments in my ankle, spent a fortune on physio appointments and new running shoes, and am now working to get back on track. Luckily I gave myself plenty of time, and have set myself the target of running the Forth Road Bridge 5k in November (although if training starts going a little better, I may tackle another 5k before then, and be back on the couch by November!!)
About my cause:
Jamie was born in December 2018 and while he was still in neonatal care his parents, Martin and Fiona, learned that life for their little one would be far from straightforward and he died in August 2019. Love From Jamie was set up by them to help other families who find themselves in a similar situation - dealing with the death of a child.
I was honored to have been asked by Martin and Fiona to become a trustee with Love from Jamie earlier this year. Providing financial support to families when they need it most, at what we know to be an overwhelming time, requires constant fundraising to be able to help all those who need it. So of course, along with the trustee responsibilities I volunteered to do some fundraising, so please, help us out, and don't laugh too much at me attempting to run!!
Thanks for reading this far, and please dig deep, it'll be worth it to see the state of me after a run!
