🌅 Edinburgh Dawn Patrol: Riding for Doddie’s Legacy
Four days. Four nations. 800 miles. One mission: to defeat MND.
Dawn Patrol is an inclusive cycling community that welcomes anyone who loves to start their day with a ride and a coffee. What begins as a simple spin quickly becomes something deeper: a vibrant community built on shared effort, encouragement, and joy.
In March 2026, we’re taking that spirit on the road for something bigger! Doddie's Triple Crown is the 2026 edition of Rob Wainwright's epic annual cycling challenge to raise funds for the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation.
💙 Why We Ride
We ride to honour Scottish rugby legend Doddie Weir, whose courage and generosity continue to inspire us all. Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a devastating condition that affects how nerves communicate with muscles. Every mile we pedal is a step towards better research, care, and hope for those living with MND.
🚴 Who is Riding
Our team is made up of everyday riders, early‑morning coffee lovers, and friends who’ve found strength in community. From the riders turning the pedals to the support crew keeping us rolling, everyone plays a part.
🌧️ What It Takes
This challenge isn’t easy. It means 5 AM alarms, long winter training rides, rain‑soaked roads, and pushing past limits. But grit is part of the journey. We ride tired, we ride cold, and we ride together—because MND doesn’t wait.
🏆 When It Happens
From Tuesday 10th to Friday 13th March 2026, we will ride 800 miles in just four days, crossing through four nations on our way to Dublin:
Day 1: Melrose → Leeds
Day 2: Leeds → Gloucester
Day 3: Gloucester → Fishguard (overnight ferry to Ireland)
Day 4: Rosslare → Dublin
We’ll arrive in Dublin just in time for Scotland’s clash with Ireland at the Aviva Stadium—exhausted but united by our mission.
💙 Every donation helps us reach new milestones, fund vital research, and honour Doddie’s legacy.
Together, we ride for hope.
Together, we ride for Doddie.
Together, we ride for change.
👉 Please support our ride by donating today. Every mile we pedal is powered by your kindness.
