Story
Treetops Hospice is the leading end of life care charity for Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
They provide nursing care and emotional support for adults with life-limiting conditions, those who’ve been bereaved, and their families. Their services are available free of charge, from diagnosis onwards.
They offer end of life nursing in patients’ own homes, counselling for grieving children and adults, personalised wellbeing support and confidential advice.
It costs £5.3 million a year to keep Treetops going and we need to raise over 80% of cost
In loving memory of Dom, husband to Emma and father to his 2 beautiful children.
In August 2024 after a month of having a cough and not feeling himself Dom was given the devastating diagnosis that he had lung cancer.
In the months following the diagnosis Dom and Emma were in and out of hospital with appointments and fighting the biggest fight of their life's whilst trying to care for their young family.
Dom was known for always making time for everybody and would always make you feel seen, no matter what walk of life you came from, he took time out to learn and listen.
One of the quotes put on his Just Giving page was “We never knew each other however you would always say hello”
A outgoing, incredible gent whose family was at the heart of everything he did, even to the point that after he was diagnosed, he completed all the unfinished jobs around the house, so that Emma and the children were safe.
Dom fought with courage, strength & dignity until his very last days.
Dom sadly lost his battle with cancer on 13th March 2025 and leaves behind his beautiful wife Emma and family.
Why we are supporting Treetops
I am running the Solihull Half Marathon on Sunday 10th August for Treetops Hospice.
I am raising money for Treetops as this is the charity that supported Dom, Emma and their children during their battle.
With the help of treetops Emma and her family were able to look after Dom at home instead of going into a hospice as Emma and family wanted Dom home where he belonged & felt at peace.
Emma feels without the help of Treetops hospice this wouldn't have been possible and has named them the Angels of the Night.
I will be running in memory of Dom, to support Treetops and to show Emma how much love and support surrounds her from me and the TRG gang.
Please donate generously where your can and we appreciate every donation.
