Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page.

World Food Day is approaching on Wednesday 16 October 2024.

According to FAO (Food & Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations) 733million people are going hungry today and 2.8billion people are unable to afford a healthy diet.

Youth Link Networks operates under two pillars:

1) Arts, Culture & Heritage Protection

2) Health, Nutrition & Food Security

I plan to Fast for 24 hours on World Food Day to highlight these figures from FAO in the hopes that more people take action on this topic & to bring visibility to Youth Link Networks who have been working on the ground for over 10 years in Uganda and building good relationships with beneficiaries. We’d love to widen our scope and go further afield to employ young people as ambassadors in the communities because they have the power to influence the generations coming up.

In the last couple of years, we’ve seen mass migration of young people leaving the rural areas to move into urban cities in search of income. Mainly because they associate farming with poverty and climate change definitely exasperates this through extreme weather changes.

With the right support through capital, resources, education and skills around adaptability through the changes of weather we can empower young people to to have higher yields and mitigate hunger.

Uganda is a leading agriculture country, exporting food worldwide. With its rural areas becoming brain drained, puts more pressure on world hunger.

Currently we have a 1acre land with 12,000 tomatoes growing and we want to include young people in the life cycle to inspire learning in: inception planning, ploughing, potting, sewing seeds, building tenches/irrigation systems, sewing seeds, mulching, harvesting, distribution/selling, preserving and much more! (Inc climate change)

Please join me to fundraise to help bring the joy of organic farming through agriculture to the young people in rural communities:

£5 - PROVIDE a young person with a pack of seeds to start their agriculture journey

£10 - SUPPORT a young person with basic resources, pens, notepads, books

£25 - SUPPORT a young person with overall protective gear& footwear

£50 - EMPOWER a young person with carefully curated educational classes in agriculture and climate change that inspires them to generate an income and make an impact with tools

£100 - SPONSOR a young person by covering the tuition for a professional facilitator to teach the educational classes

£200 - TRANSFORM a young persons life by equipping them with capital to take their farming to another level through business.
