I've raised a fair bit of money for WAY (Widowed and Young) in donna's memory, but this time I'd like to raise money for another cause. As you may know, donna died from secondary breast cancer in January 2021. It remains an incurable condition, meaning that once you have it all you can do can do is manage it, hoping against hope that treatments will improve. I know what this means at a visceral level, and how this illness can destroy the quality of life of its sufferers. So, rather than raising money for WAY, a charity that helped me through the darkest of times, this time I'm choosing to contribute to Breast Cancer Now. This money will go towards helping future victims of this cruel disease.

As far as the event goes... Well, instead of my usual walking challenges, I'm stepping up to running! I'm not a natural runner, but hey, there's plenty of time to get into shape and learn how to do it, right? I've started doing parkruns and they've been going well so far (even if my times are terrible), so I'm sure I'll be fine. And the Great North Run does look amazing. So, fingers (toes?) crossed, and please give generously!
