Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Here is a little background as to why I have decided to take on this crazy 106km run around the Isle of Wight and raise money for Arthur Rank Hospice.
In late 2025, my father-in-law Bob was put on the palliative care pathway. Shortly after, he needed the support of Arthur Rank Hospice. We witnessed the professional and acceptional care that Bob was given in both his home and the inpatient unit.
I had a slight insight into the work that Arthur Rank provided, however it wasn't until Bob was admitted to the inpatient unit that we really got to see the amazing work that everyone does there.
From the moment we entered the building we were greeted with friendly smiles and caring individuals. From the people in the cafe, the cleaners, nurses and doctors. We cannot fault anything. Everyone there is truly outstanding.
The staff at Arthur Rank did not just look after Bob during his 6-week stay, but they supported and helped Jessie, her brothers and family through this really tough time. We will never forget the love, compassion and care they showed us all. Especially Bobs grandchildren who would regularly come to see him and take over the lounge area.
The location of this event is very close to our hearts. Bob loved the Isle of Wight. He had family there and would visit multiple times a year with Jessie until his health deteriorated. To complete this 106km run in one of his favourite places is an honour & to raise money for such a magnificent, caring and unique charity is a privilege.
You really do get the very best care from Arthur Rank. To hear that they have had funding cuts is incredibly sad. I don’t know what we would have done without the Arthur Rank facilities or support from the staff who took care of Bob and his family. We cannot thank Arthur Rank Hospice enough for everything they have done, for not only Bob, but every patient who needs them.
RIP Bob, a drink will definitely be had in your honour.
