As I'm sure you are aware Hospices are woefully underfunded & a huge percentage of their running costs are covered by fundraising. Many are closing beds , and some are under threat completely.With that in mind I've decided to take part in this Great Wall of China Trek to raise vital funds for Prospect Hospice.Do look at their website and read all about the fantastic work that they do.

I'm paying for my own trip , so 100% of the sponsorship/funds raised will go directly to Prospect Hospice. I will be arranging some fundraising activities later this year & next year , always grateful for any ideas for these , or offers of a use of premises for a supper club , bake sale etc.

To the trip ... The 2025 Trek takes us to a remote section of the Great Wall of China , from Gubeikou to Jinshanling & Simatai , not only on the wall but through wild & remote landscapes with many steep uphill & downhill sections (in general there will be a LOT of steps to climb & just 5km can take 6-7 hours with elevation gain reaching from 515m to 866m each day)

We are staying at guesthouses overnight during the Trek , so you can expect many local food photo's from me of course ,haha ! :)

I think these old knees can make it , but I will be doing plenty of training walks , alot of strength & balance training also.
