Story
Homelessness isn’t always visible. It doesn’t only mean sleeping on the streets. It can look like sofa-surfing between friends’ homes, living in insecure temporary accommodation, fleeing an unsafe place, or spending the night in a car. Behind every one of these situations is a person. Someone’s friend, someone’s parent, someone’s colleague who deserves compassion, dignity, and support, not judgment.
Working at Luton BID, I see every day the strength, diversity, and pride within our town centre community. But I also see that for some people, life in our community is far more fragile than we might realise. Homelessness affects people quietly, often hidden in plain sight, and it’s something that no single organisation can solve alone.
That’s why I’m taking part in the Luton Sleepout. For one night, I’ll be trading my bed for the cold ground to stand in solidarity with people in our community who face the reality of not having a safe place to sleep.
This event isn’t about pretending to experience homelessness for a night. It’s about standing together as a community. Residents, businesses, schools, charities, and community groups recognising a challenge that affects our town and showing that Luton is a place that cares and takes action.
Every donation helps local organisations continue their vital work, providing safe spaces, practical support, and pathways to stability for people who need it most. It helps ensure that those facing difficult circumstances in our town know they are not alone.
Luton is a town built on community, resilience, and people looking out for one another. By supporting the Luton Sleepout, we are showing that when challenges arise, we come together, we support each other, and we work towards a future where everyone in our community has a place to feel safe and supported.
If you can, please consider supporting this cause. Together, we can make a real difference.
