Story
This is the time of the year when we are finishing preparations for our yearly Charity Marathon Hike. This year's hike is going to be very special to us, as we are raising money for Henrik’s Troopers to celebrate the achievements of an incredible young boy that I have had the pleasure to work alongside for 4 years in Thomas’s Kensington. Henrik is very excited to start his Secondary School in Thomas’s Battersea and his courage and bravery inspired us to take on a 42.2km hike in Peak District on 24 June 2023. We will also try to beat our best walking time so far.
Cerebral Palsy is a condition that affects muscle control and movement in 1 in 400 children in the UK. Henrik’s Troopers is trying to improve the lives of these children and their families by helping to fund a surgical procedure that reduces spasticity in children with cerebral palsy, called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy. This procedure, which Henrik himself received when he was 4 years old, improved his life significantly. As Selective Dorsal Rhisotomy is costly and still not fully covered by NHS, Henrik’s Troopers is helping to make this procedure available to other children who qualify for surgery. We would like to thank you for all your support, encouragement and any donation that you contribute to Henrik’s Troopers.
