Warsaw Marathon

We’ve been providing in-depth, expert information and wide-ranging support for over 35 years, helping thousands of people affected by lymphoma. Our work drives improvements in the diagnosis, treatment, and aftercare of lymphoma.

Story

Stats:

• Fewer than 350 people are diagnosed with T-cell skin lymphoma in the UK each year

• T-cell skin lymphomas make up about 7 in 10 cases of skin lymphoma

• Only about 1 in 5 skin lymphomas affect people under 50

• Sezary syndrome accounts for about 3 in every 100 cases of skin lymphoma

My story:

In early 2023, following 6 years of suffering from troublesome symptoms, I was diagnosed with skin T-cell lymphoma called Mycosis fungoides. With wonderful support from my beloved family, friends, colleagues and employer I managed to go about my normal life for the past year or so whilst undergoing treatment. Unfortunately, a few months ago I started feeling more fatigued and my skin turned sore again, the blood tests showed that the treatment had stopped working. My skin lymphoma transformed into high-grade T-cell lymphoma called Sezary syndrome meaning it’s spread into my blood. Quite frankly, I was terrified when I learned the news. Right now I'm adjusting to the new treatment in the comfort of my home. It's too early to say if I'm out of the woods, but a great medical team is looking after me and I trust their expertise in getting me out of this situation. Fingers crossed I will soon be able to return to my “normal” life. Whilst my body is working hard on getting my immune system back in good order, I have decided to do something that will keep my mind occupied with positive things…

Throughout my journey, I have found Lymphoma Action to be a fantastic source of well-referenced information. Ever since I came across this charity, I have joined their online support groups, attended a regional meeting with national experts on the subject and even called the helpline at the time of emotional crisis.

September is Lymphoma Awareness Month, so I have decided to raise funds for this amazing charity. My lovely friend Iwona is taking on a challenge by running the Warsaw marathon on the 29th of September 2024 and I will be there with her to support her (Race bib number 8206 https://nnmaratonwarszawski.com/en/).

Please help us reach our target, your generosity will be much appreciated.
