Story
I live with myasthenia gravis, a rare disease with no cure. I'm raising money for MyAware, the UK charity supporting people like me.
Myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune disease. The immune system makes antibodies that block signals between nerves and muscles, so muscles become weak, especially the more they're used. Speaking, eating, walking or even breathing become exhausting, or even impossible. A breathing crisis means emergency hospital care. There is no cure. Yet.
Most people have never heard of myasthenia gravis. Many patients wait years for a diagnosis, and doctors don't always recognise the symptoms. That's why MyAware matters so much.
MyAware is the UK charity for people with myasthenia. They give support and information to patients and families, help doctors and nurses understand the condition, and raise awareness, so fewer people go through this alone. I'm proud to be a member.
This fundraiser is my way of giving something back to the community that helps me and thousands of others.
Every donation, big or small, helps. If you can't donate, sharing this page helps too.
Thank you for being part of it
