Story
I've worked at Look Ahead for many years and have seen first-hand both the challenges people face and the incredible determination they show in overcoming them every day.
Many of the people we support live with poor mental or physical health, often alongside the impact of homelessness, unstable housing, learning disabilities, autism or other complex needs. As a result, they can face significantly worse long-term health outcomes and fewer opportunities to take part in the activities that help us stay healthy, active and connected.
Something as simple as joining an exercise class, spending time outdoors, taking part in a gardening project or meeting others through a wellbeing activity can make a real difference to someone's physical health, confidence and independence. Yet these are opportunities many of us take for granted.
That's why I'm taking on the Oysho Royal Parks Half Marathon this October.
I'll be putting in the training over the next three months and, while I'm definitely a slow runner, I'm committed to getting to the finish line. It feels like a worthwhile challenge to help raise funds for people who overcome far bigger challenges every day.
I'm raising money to help fund health and wellbeing activities for people supported by Look Ahead across London and the South East. Every donation will help more people get active, improve their health, build confidence and connect with their communities.
If you're able to support me, I'd be hugely grateful. Your donation will help create opportunities that can have a lasting impact on someone's health, wellbeing and future.
I'll do the running – you can help make every mile count. Thank you for your support. 🏃♀️💙
