Story

In April 2026, Alice, Hayden and Kate will be running London Marathon.

Alice hopes to run the marathon she always dreamed of completing in support of Leukaemia UK after having to defer her place last year due to relapse.

This will be no mean feat having had her stem cell transplant only 6 months ago and will be running the marathon less than a year from receiving Kate’s cells.

Recovery from a stem cell transplant alone is a long journey but Alice wants to challenge herself in crossing that finish line signifying not only the physical but mental challenges she has had to overcome since her leukaemia diagnosis.

We are all not blind to the fact that Alice was extraordinarily lucky to have two full sibling matches for her stem cell transplant (a rarity of just 6%!)

That is not the case for a lot of people diagnosed with leukaemia who then become reliant on the kindness of strangers to sign up to the stem cell register and donate their stem cells.

This is why Hayden and Kate will be running for Anthony Nolan, to raise awareness of the need for everyone to join the stem cell register and to support this charity which does unbelievable work in helping people with blood cancer and other blood disorders.

We are beyond grateful for all the support we have received from family and friends over the past 18 months and we would love for you to come cheer us on at the sidelines or donate to support this incredible charity.

“Anthony Nolan saves and improves the lives of people with blood cancer and blood disorders. By making lifesaving connections between patients and incredible strangers, ready to donate their stem cells. By funding ground-breaking research that could transform the future for more patients. By providing the best experience for every patient before, during and after transplant.”
