Richmond RunFest Half Marathon 2024 · 15 September 2024 ·

We’re the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. We’re determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. Our vision is a future where nobody dies of the disease.

Story

This September marks 10 years since my wonderful Dad (Keith) passed away from Bowel Cancer. To honour him and to mark 10 years without him I wanted to fundraise for Bowel Cancer UK. He'd think I was mad for doing a half marathon but he'd have been cheering me on from the side lines cup of tea in hand and some chocolate covered Brazil nuts ready for me when I had finished - unless he had eaten them all whilst waiting for me to finish.

If we raise £200 I will do a Park Run dress up as an emoji poo - who wouldn't want to donate so they can see that!

My wonderful sister is also helping raise money for the cause by walking a 10k dressed as an emoji poop the weekend before my half marathon. We ran our last half marathon but due to injury she can't join me for this challenge but wanted to still get involved in fundraising.

Bowel Cancer UK is the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity.

They fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.

Let's raise money to stop people dying of bowel cancer.
