I’m not a runner. I’m certainly not a marathon runner. Actually, I restarted my marathon training plan at least 3 times. But I’m pretty determined to give it a go, and try to raise as much money as I can. It’s for a charity that means so much to me, and makes such a significant impact to many young people’s lives globally.

What is ‘Apart of Me’?

It’s a Tech charity that supports 12-17yr olds in navigating and processing their grief through a free app. The statistics are pretty horrific for young people who have experienced loss during this age range. They’re less likely to stay in school, more likely to spend time in Prison, and the probability that they die by suicide skyrockets. This app enables young people to understand and process their childhood bereavement and reduce the ongoing impact the experience has on their adult lives.

I volunteered my skills & support to the charity during the Pandemic, and got to work with and learn from the incredible team that founded and continue to grow the charity. Unbeknownst to me when I volunteered, my experience with the charity also helped me retrospectively process my grief from losing my Mum when I was 15. My intent was to offer my skillset to the charity to support it’s growth and drive awareness amongst young people that can be helped by it, but I was also so lucky that this time also validated my childhood experiences and I learnt so much about myself in the process. I’m so grateful to the awesome team at Apart of Me for this!
