Story
Here we go again... I am donning my hiking boots once more... but this time going solo (sadly, Angela is moving house).
I've a work sabbatical to use and the rest of the Camino miles aren't going to walk themselves!
For those closest to me you will me all too familiar with my love of Spain and walking so combining my two passions seems a no brainer.
Last year, we treked some 280 miles from St-Jean-Pied-de-Port in France over The Pyrenees, to Pamplona, Logrono and Burgos with a gorgeous backdrop of mountains, vineyards, plains and Basque hamlets in between.
We met some incredible people, we talked, we walked, we laughed (a lot), we reflected and we cried (a little) ... the experience was truly on a whole new level.
We encountered Spanish hospitality, enjoyed the odd glass of Rioja and tried to remember to treat our feet, drink plenty of water and apply sun screen. We hit a few walls but we kept on trudging.
I've 350 miles standing between me and the finish line - the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela with 'only' La Meseta (a 137 mile desert) plus the cities of Leon and Astorga to tick off.
Here's hoping my knee replacement, pinned foot and rheumatoid arthritic hands stay the course 😬

Besides the breathtaking scenery and the promise of spiritual enlightenment, I'm supporting Martin House Hospice in Yorkshire.
Martin House supports children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families, across West, North and East Yorkshire. Their vision is that every child and young person has access to palliative care when and where they need it.
Join me on this wild ride, I'll post regular updates on socials. Follow along for the laughs, the struggles, the tears and no doubt the occasional existential crisis. And if you've got a spare penny or two, please chuck them our way. Every donation helps. Thanks 🚶♂️🌄👟
