Story
Hi, I’m Kate Floyd, a Health and Wellbeing Instructor at Sandville Self Help Foundation charity. In September 2026, I will be taking on the Borneo Trek Challenge to raise vital funds for a charity that is close to my heart.
I will be travelling to Borneo to survive the jungle and summit Mount Kinabalu (4,095m), the highest peak in Southeast Asia. This intense adventure will take me from sleeping in a hammock deep in the rainforest to climbing through clouds, forests and alpine rocks before sunrise. It truly is a challenge of a lifetime, and I am doing it to support the amazing work of Sandville Self Help Foundation.
Sandville Self Help Foundation provides vital physical, social, emotional and psychological support to people living with life limiting and life changing conditions including Motor Neurone Disease, Cancer, Parkinson’s, Muscular Dystrophy, Brain Injuries, Stroke, Dementia, Huntington’s Disease, and Multiple Sclerosis. The centre offers a wide range of support services including a hydrotherapy pool, gym and mobility suite, wellbeing studio, complimentary therapies, and support groups.
Sandville Self Help Foundation receives no government funding. Every service offered depends entirely on the generosity of individuals, families, businesses, and the community.
This trek is not just about reaching the summit, it’s about making a difference, raising awareness, and ensuring support is there for people when they need it most.
Every donation takes me one step closer, both to the top of the mountain and to helping Sandville Self Help Foundation continue it’s incredible work. You can help by donating whatever you can, sharing this fundraising page on your social media channels, or joining me at one of our future fundraising events.
Thank you all for your kindness and generosity, I am really excited to be taking on this challenge next September!
