Story
I'm running 10k to raise money for LGBT Foundation, please sponsor me as I love this charity and also deeply hate running!
LGBT Foundation is 50 this year, and as part of the celebrations a group of volunteers and staff (including me!) are running the 10k at the Great Manchester Run to fund raise as much as possible for our life-affirming and life-saving services.
LGBT Foundation is a national charity delivering advice, support and information services to LGBTQ+ communities.
We believe in a fair and equal society where all lesbian, gay bisexual and trans people can achieve their full potential. Through our services we reduce isolation amongst our communities, help people feel more confident and in control of their lives, and enable people to flourish.
I've worked at LGBT Foundation for three years and I know how incredible and impactful the services we provide are. From our helpline and counselling service, to our recovery programme, domestic abuse support service and community safety programme, to our women's groups and community events, we support over 40,000 people every year. The staff and volunteers of LGBT Foundation are so passionate and dedicated, and I feel so privileged to work with them and drive social change together.
So, the run!
I need to reiterate that I have never done anything like this before and I am low key mortified at the idea of running so publicly and so far! However, I'm committed to training and I'm committed to the cause, so please sponsor me if you can.
Thank you so much for your generosity and support, it makes a huge difference!
